Welcome to Duba Plains Camp

Our home, where Beverly and I have lived for nearly twenty years. It was chosen because it is quite simply the best place on Earth. This place restores my spirit. It simultaneously causes my adrenalin to pump as I watch swamp lions swim across water channels to hunt thousands of lechwe and hundreds of buffalo. More recently, painted dogs and leopards have moved in. I cannot think of a more rounded Botswana safari or wildlife experience anywhere in Africa.

Duba Plains offers a perfect experience when you add the vast elephant herds of Selinda to your Botswana safari.

I did a piece of art for this camp, inspired by a male lion that Beverly had photographed here once. I deconstructed a brass clock and hammered these pieces across the wooden ‘canvas.’ It expresses how the total number of these beloved lions remaining in Africa hovers around 20,000 and are running out of time.

A safari can be personal and social; it can be about yourself whilst understanding broader conservation issues. Duba Plains is all those things.”

– Dereck Joubert

Duba Plains Camp

Duba Plains Camp, a Réserve-Collection luxury safari camp and the epitome of the Botswana safari, sits in the heart of the Okavango Delta in the Duba Concession.

The private 33,000-hectare Duba Concession is a matrix of palm-dotted islands, flood plains, and woodland. Great Plains Conservation co-founders, National Geographic filmmakers, conservationists, and explorers Dereck and Beverly Joubert chose this area for many of their award-winning wildlife films.

Duba Plains Camp’s main area consists central dining room, comfortable lounge, interactive kitchen, wine cellar and library. Its extended, raised deck, under the giant ebony trees, is perfect for al fresco outdoor dining. This is the gathering place for all your safari experiences.
